Schrattenthal Castle lies at the foot of the Manhartsberg. It is nestled in the rolling hills of the western wine quarter, not far from Retz.

This is Austria’s second smallest municipality, which was inherited by Emperor Friedrich III in 1472, and the towers still bear witness to the town’s troubled past.

The Schubert family have owned the castle for 80 years and they still live in the castle today. During recent years, Schrattenthal Castle has been restored with tireless dedication and attention to detail and nowadays it is a place of peace, quiet and harmony.
